The safety issue has always received a great deal of attention from Votorantim Cimentos and from the entire Votorantim Group, which has resource to the best practices available in the market and with international recognition in the preservation of the health and lives of employees.

Several actions are carried out to improve performance in occupational safety and health. The objective is to expand the employees' view of the importance of safety and health, both inside and outside the work environment.

All the employees that work in the industrial areas use mandatory safety equipment called IPE (Individual Protection Equipment), besides receiving constant training. There are also programs such as the Log of Incidents, the Minute of Excellence and Safe Behavior.

Another important venture was the creation of the project entitled Regras pela Vida (Rules for Life) as part of SISSMA (Integrated Health, Safety and Environment System). These involve the mandatory and essential rules for all the professionals from VC, targeting the preservation of their physical integrity. Non-compliance with any one of them is considered unacceptable by the Company.

Regras pela Vida:
1. The use of Individual Protection Equipment (IPE) is mandatory, as specified in the procedures and indicator signs.
2- The preparation of the Preliminary Risk Analysis (APRs) is mandatory, as provided in the risk analysis.
3- Unauthorized persons are prohibited from accessing restricted areas.
4- Equipment blocking and area isolation procedures must be followed.
5- Employees are prohibited from working at the company under the influence or in possession of alcohol/drugs, and from carrying firearms or cold steel.
6- Driving or operating automotive vehicles/equipment without the proper license or in an imprudent manner, is prohibited.

In addition, Votorantim Cimentos seeks to make employees aware of the importance of their role in this process, above all in perceiving and drawing attention to risky situations or actions. An integration video was produced for new employees and outsourced workers, presenting basic items of control for risks and that people tend to become less vigilant as time goes by, doing their work automatically, which can cause accidents.
