Environmental Performance Indicator

Since the beginning of 2006, all the units of Votorantim Cimentos have been evaluated through the Environmental Performance Indicator.

The environmental performance indicator allows the units to evaluate the main environmental items. This indicator is divided into two:

· Operating environmental performance indicator: involves the evaluation of items such as legal requirements, notices of deficiency, management of solid waste, management of liquid effluents, atmospheric emissions, environmental noise, contamination prevention and others.

· Strategic environmental performance indicator: involves the evaluation of items such as CO2 efficiency, efficiency of water use, heat replacement of the energy matrix by industrial waste and biomass, clinker addition factor, efficiency of the electric energy consumption, thermal energy efficiency and others.

In this manner, both the operating environmental performance indicator and the strategic environmental performance indicator serve as the environmental "business card" of the unit.
