Escola em Ação is a program designed to contribute towards the improvement of the quality of education in the municipality of Paulista (Pernambuco), with pedagogic support from the Center of Education and Documentation for Community Action (Cedac). The first phase took place in the second half of 2005, when four art workshops were held with 280 municipal school teachers that promoted the personal and professional development of instructors, besides creating a reflective space for educational work.

At the same time as the work of the art workshops, CEDAC and the Municipal Department of Education prepared a Plan of Action. The intention was to identify local potentialities and requirements to structure the work.
