STEP-BY-STEP – MORTAR BINDER FLOOR OVER FLOOR The substrate must be clean, dry, and free from dust, oily substances, paints, mortar remains, efflorescence or other materials which may prevent bonding. It is important to check that the coating is firm and bonded to the substrate. The ceramic tiles must meet the above conditions, specially the cleanliness of the slip. The VotoMassa Binder Floor over floor must be mixed with the water quantity shown on the packaging back, until it forms a homogeneous mortar without air pockets. With the smooth side of a metal notched trowel, spread mortar on the surface, forming a uniform coat of 3 to 4 mm in a maximum 2 m2 area. Then, with the dented side, remove the excess mortar, in an inclined position to obtain continuous and uniform lines. ATTENTION: The substrate must not be dampened to apply the mortar. Apply the dry clean ceramic tiles on the mortar lines, pressing until achieving complete bonding. After 72 hours of the ceramic tiles setting, apply the VotoMassa Flexible Grout, following the ceramic manufacturer guidelines regarding the joint size to be maintained between the pieces. Light traffic may be cleared within 72 hours of the pieces setting. ATTENTION: It is important to set the ceramic pieces on the mortar lines, whilst they are still fresh without superficial drying. The ceramic pieces setting must not follow the same direction as the coating being replaced, i.e. the new and old grout must not be lined up (the old and new pieces must have separate joint areas).
