Votorantim Cimentos and Engemix win Pini 2006 Award The Pini Award nominates the best suppliers from the civil construction industry in the opinion of subscribers to Construção Mercado, AU - Arquitetura & Urbanismo and Téchne magazines on an annual basis. Considered one of the most important in the sector, now in its 12th edition, its winners include Votorantim Cimentos and Engemix. Votorantim Cimentos won the award for the 10th time running in the Portland Cement category with the Votoran and Itaú brands, in first and second places respectively. Together, the two brands received 45.74% of the nominations. In the Hydrated Lime category, Votorantim Cimentos was also the winner with the Votoran brand in first place (36.32% of the nominations) and Itaú in second (25.45%). In the Central Dosed Concrete category, the Concrete Business (Engemix) won with 16.17% of the votes, for the second year running. The award had gone to a major rival, Concretex, for the previous 10 years. In 2005 Engemix won Pini for the first time with a margin of only 0.37%. In 2006 Engemix won the award again, but with a difference of 6% over the company in second place. This victory can be attributed to factors such as: investments in technology, operational improvements, brand disclosure and efforts of the company professionals. The results of the survey will be divulged in a Special Edition of Construção Mercado magazine at the end of October 2006.
