| Votorantim sponsors orchestra performance in commemoration of its 70th anniversary |
| Votorantim Cimentos, in partnership with Orquestra Bachiana Jovem (Young Bachian Orchestra) and the Local Government of the Municipality of Votorantim, presents the Toca Atitude project, which will play classical music to the local community in commemoration of the firm’s 70th anniversary. The performance is scheduled for May 26th, at 7 p.m. at Praça Zeca Padeiro (next to the Town Hall). The aim of the project is to foster cultural democratization, particularly among youths, by taking interactive performances to regions where there is a shortage of this kind of programming. The city of Votorantim was one of those chosen as it is where the company was created. Moreover, the company is deeply involved in projects targeted at education, health and culture in all the communities where it is present. With Toca Atitude, Votorantim and Bachiana Jovem hope to encourage youths to seek this and other forms of cultural expression. "Votorantim believes that everyone can develop their potential and sees culture as an important tool to this end", declares Marcelo Monteiro Silva, Manager of the Votorantim Cimentos unit in the Municipality. The Toca Atitude Project arose from a partnership of Instituto Votorantim, which sketches out the guidelines and policies for Votorantim’s social investment, with Orquestra Bachiana Jovem. Formed by 35 youths from the suburbs of São Paulo, under the guidance of teachers Ênio Antunes and Laércio Diniz, Baquiana Jovem is the product of the volunteer work of teachers of Bachiana Chamber Orchestra, conducted by maestro João Carlos Martins. According to Martins "this is the first project that effectively proposes decentralization for the formation of new audiences ". The programming of performances is comprised of selected compositions by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Villa-Lobos, Bizet and Carlos Gardel, among others, which will be presented interactively to involve the audience in the appreciation of classical music. The performances of Toca Atitude sponsored by Votorantim will take place in another two cities from the interior of São Paulo (Itapetininga and Mogi das Cruzes).
