Votorantim Cimentos invests R$ 900 thousand in Distribution Center in Teresina (Piauí)

Votorantim Cimentos invests R$ 900 thousand in Distribution Center in Teresina (Piauí) Company expands logistics network in pursuit of greater proximity to its customers Votorantim Cimentos is opening its first Distribution Center in Teresina (Piauí), located on Rodovia 343, on December 13th. For this deployment the company invested R$ 900 thousand spread out between the renovation of a building of Companhia Ferroviária do Nordeste (Northeast Railroad Company), with which it formed a partnership, and the acquisition of equipment, generating around 12 direct jobs. The aim of this deployment is to optimize the distribution of cements and mortars, reducing the delivery term and favoring best inventory planning for storeowners. This DC will serve the capital city and 43 municipalities in the surroundings, besides Belém (Pará), with products coming from the Sobral plant (Ceará). The unit has around 2 thousand m² of total area and the capacity to store 2,500 tons of products. According to Wellington César Gaia, NNE Integrated Logistics Manager, this DC supports up to five days of stock, which in practice represents a true suit of armor against unforeseen events that could provoke a cement shortage, such as interruptions in transportation caused by bad weather. "By maintaining these remote stocks, Votorantim Cimentos has the capacity to serve customers with more speed and flexibility, contributing so that storeowners do not have to see their capital immobilized", completes the executive. The supply will be multi modal, leaving Sobral plant by railroad to Teresina, by means of an operational agreement drawn up with Companhia Ferroviária do Nordeste. In the capital city, 60% of the cargo is transferred to the Distribution Center of Belém (Pará) by road. In the last nine months the company has opened four new Distribution Centers, located in Regente Feijó, extreme west of the state of S. Paulo; Passo Fundo, in northern Rio Grande do Sul; Palmas, capital of Tocantins; and Ji-Paraná, in the middle of the state of Rondônia. With the new DC of Teresina, Votorantim Cimentos now has a network of 39 distribution points, besides 17 plant dispatch points, to cater to construction retailers and construction firms all over the country.
