The In a ceremony held on August 10th, Votorantim Cimentos received the “Oswaldo Checchia” Ser Humano (Human Being) award for the project entitled “Transformation into Human and Organizational Development – DHO”. The award was granted by the Brazilian Association of Human Resources (ABRH) to 12 companies out of 110 projects entered. The purpose of the award, which is already in its 11th edition, is to enhance the value of human beings in organizations, stimulate creativity and reward people that contribute to the qualification of the HR area inside companies. Votorantim Cimentos won in the “Technology Applied to HR” category, with the deployment of a project that transformed the method employed at the Company to cater to requests from employees. It consists of the centralization of HR information in an Intranet portal. The project was deployed in 2004 at the 168 facilities of Votorantim Cimentos – including plants, mines, distribution centers, power plants and branches of the cement and concrete businesses. As a result, it paved the way for the digital inclusion of employees not familiar with computers (80% of the 6,800 employees work on the plant floor). ”This project changed the way people work in the DHO area (HR), making it more strategic and less operational. But there is still a lot to be done. Consequently, this award serves to value the efforts of all the members of the DHO team and employees”, states Fernando Lima, DHO Director of VC.
